I have to disagree on the suggestions for a digital camera for kids.

I've noticed that kids these days have an attention span of
approximately 0.3 seconds.

This has gone down from the peak of 0.5 seconds achieved one winter in 1973.

But I've noticed kids with a digital camera will happily shoot snaps,
look at the screen, then 0.4 seconds later they've forgotten entirely
about the photo, camera, and everything else.

At least with film, you force a delayed gratification which is good.
Part of the magic.
