Digital is an absolute godsend in this respect. With the help of fellow LUGGERS and others I managed to shoot, post, collect advice and instructions, re-shoot and re-post my first, and subsequently "improved", attempts at macro shots of fossils and minerals. Immediacy is the thing - I now take a digi with me to set up shot parameters and test , then shoot the rest with film using the same lenses. (EOS 300D and Leica R7), particularly good for my beloved locomotive shots. Getting the exposure right is a pain in the nether regions, why are they nearly always matt black with the light behind them?. Douglas
