To object is to soak up your film with developing agent. Making your film in effect "developer incorporated". Ready To be "boosted" later in the B for Boost tank where the development really takes place. It doesn't happen in the A bath because developer is relatively inert in a non or very low alkali environment. Dilutions would only be advised I'd think for regular one tank (a and B combined) developing with intermediary agitation so it conks out nicely between agitation cycles. Or roller where it might prevent the shoulder of the curve from looking like it's in the NFL. With an ingrown toe. Ouch ! that was one painful field goal!
