Ted, are all the startup sounds normal? Any grinding or slamming noises? I ask because this has happened to me with several models of Epson printers, both in and out of warranty. After interminable phone conversations with Epson, including turning it off, re-installing drivers, flipping it over while unplugging everything and more, Epson's final solution has been to send it in. This gets old after a while. My solution - works EVERY time - is to clean the stainless steel guide bar the print heads slide along, then re-lubricate with a TINY amount of sewing machine oil taking care not to get oil on the toothed drive belt. "3-in-1" brand works well too.
