I carry 6 fully charged batteries for the Canon 10D - those batteries do not lose their charge just sitting around like the Leica digital batteries do. The charge lasts through several CF cards and I have a charger that can work in the car, too. >And film has to be carried around but the batteries last a bit longer than a couple of hours. Or do you leave the laptop at home and carry >lots of large CF cards? I carry lots of large CF cards (the equivalent of 100 rolls of film will fit in one small vest pocket!), but I also carry a Nixvue Digital Album that holds 20GB and has never failed. It has a travel kit and can work on AA batteries or the car charger. I also carry an Apacer portable CD burner that works on batteries and holds a charge for a long time. Both of those are very small and can work while being carried in a backpack. Neither one has ever failed but I feel better having two copies of everything before I reformat the CF cards!
