Folks -

May I suggest another view of The Man's metaphor in light of the world 
of recorded music.

The performance was the sun's dance along the dunes.

Shooting the photo was the equivalent of "tracking" in the recording 
world. A selective and subjective document of the event when it 
happened.

The darkroom work corresponds to the "mix" - a post-event balancing of 
the presentation of the original elements.

For whatever these analogies may be worth...
