Ok, then the Epson R-D1 has a purpose -- I grant that. I just won't be 
rushing out to buy one (assuming it really is $3,500).

I wonder how much of the contrast, both over the entire image and 
local, can be restored in Photoshop with curves and unsharp filtering?
