If you haven't done any serious Digi 2 B&W shooting in this mode you might be pleasantly surprised what this camera has been doing. It seems there must be something inside... what? I don't have a clue, software, hardware, nails, screws and whatever else electronics people use in this digi world. But the more I've fiddled around doing things without reading the manual I'm finding the quality of captured image is far better than what I've been led to believe by reading many of the posts offered on the LUG. Yep PS can help tweak a few things, a quick touch of auto levels and that's it..... print! Besides it's no big deal and adds to the fun and expereince of doing / seeing things in digital that you wouldn't other wise. The more I've said to myself "screw the advice, rules, do not's, wont produce this, that or something else of quality" and experimented on my own, I'm having more fun than a barrel of monkies in heat! Not to forget learning the simplicity of digial as a quality tool where I've been led to believe it wont do as well as a wet tray print. > Both of my digicams have b/w modes, but I have always considered them as marketing gimmicks.<< That maybe in your case and cameras. So may I suggest you get a Leica Digilux 2 and try the B&W mode for yourself and be pleasantly surprised that it's more than "just a marketing gimmick?" ;-) ted
