I think the problem actually is in the prediction of the rate of decline 
in sales. Everyone knows it is happening, but how fast is it occurring? 
Faster than anyone predicted, that's how fast and that makes management 
(and investors) very skittish. And a company will need to be very 
flexible in order to neither overproduce so that profits are eaten away 
or to so under produce that their remaining customer base is lost.

Because Ilford was black and white only they may have been more 
vulnerable as digital makes film choice unnecessary.
