"http://www.dpreview.com/news/0408/sony/dscv3frontback.jpg I notice this Gorgeous Sony just came out from the DP preview which I check every five minutes in case something happens. First of all they mention the "HUGE" 2.5 screen like it's some new thing that hasn't been used on the Digilux 1 years ago and now of course the Digilux 2." It is gorgeous, but in looking at the specs it shouldn't offer any real competition to the Digiluxes. First, the lens speed sucks (2.8-4 v 2-2.5). Second, more pixels with the same sensor size (1/1.8) equals noise. On paper I'd rather have a digilux 1, and it was noisy enough at anything over ISO 100. IMO the next leap forward in fixed lens digicams will come when they get sensors that are at least half the size of the DSLR entry point, so you can shoot at ISO 400 or 800 at least. If you look at the charts here you can see the problem right away: http://www.dpreview.com/learn/?/Glossary/Camera_System/Sensor_Sizes_01.htm Phil Swango 307 Aliso Dr. SE Albuquerque, NM 87108 505-262-4085 714-908-7846 (fax) pswango@att.net
