For Thor, regarding the Serial No. 772840 -- that you said was difficult to  
identify -- it'a model Leica IIIF, with a self timer, a fairly collectible 
model  because of the self timer. You can tell it's a IIIF by the ASA 
markings on 
the  film advance knob on the right side. The self timer -- which is found 
on 
only  some of the IIIFs-- is a lever found on the left side of the front. 
You 
move it  down and then depress the button and, after about 15 or 18 seconds, 
 
the  shutter is triggered. The collapsible lens could be a 50mm Elmar 3.5, a 
50 mm  Elmar 2.8 or a 50mm Summitar f2, all great lenses, with the first 
possible two  more desirable by some users. --bob cole
