Hmmm, I have scanned 35mm slides and fine grain film on everything from
a Nikon Super Coolscan to a drum scanner and in my experience it's far
better than any 6MP digital I have ever seen. The 1Ds is very close or
equal.

What's wrong with grain? Most digital still looks like hires video to
me.
