Emmanuel Meki is a professional, a teacher, from Halina in the Honde
Valley in Zimbabwe. It's a poor rural area in the eastern highlands. He
took up making trinklets out of galvanized steel wire in an attempt to
help others find a means of income. His products are sold in some shops in
Sweden to finance projects dealing with HIV, gender issues and special
education in his home area in Zimbabwe. Hopefully he got a chance to
further those interests too while in Sweden, and not just put out on
display like another third-world artisan.
