Subject: [Leica] Mayday Protests 2001 rescanned and re-edited Hi Brian, Well done and once again you show you've got the guts to stay the course right in the middle of the demo. My biggest fear in these type of encounters was some SOB punching me out while I had the camera to my one good eye and possibly loosing my site all together. I mean when the camera is at your eye and we're concentrating on what's going on is when we're at our most vulnerable, particularly if you're working alone and not with a writer or an assistant to kind of guard your back while shooting. My good fortune is in all my years of covering demonstrations I only got punched once and that was to the side of the head and not to the face, but it did leave me with one hell of a headache for a couple of days. However, the writer I was working with happened to be 6' 7" and weighed in like a football line backer and retaliated like a bolt of lightening. So the fellow who hit me received a quick couple of fast ones before anyone realized who did it. I'm sure he must have had a bigger head ache than I for several days. We of course made our way out of the middle of the " mob" right smartly and began covering it from the peripheral area, as he was sure we would've been set upon if we'd stayed. :-) Besides my head was ringing like an alarm clock. ted
