Although it is (obviously) a matter of opinion, I believe the
disadvantages greatly outweigh the advantages.  A plain text message is
readable by any MUA, reduces bandwidth, and prevents a malicious sender
from exploiting mail client vulnerabilities or just hiding his links:

 Vote for <a href="http://www.whitehouse.com";>John Kerry!</a>

Readability of HTML mail depends on the reader's mail client, so what
looks great to one recipient might be unreadable to the next.

What do you see as its advantages?
