They both use the 2 cam lenses. The SL2 has more mirror clearance, which allows lenses to be used that protrude farther into the mirror box. This is Minolta's influence on Leitz in the 1970s. R3 and newer bodies also use the Minolta clearance spec, BTW. To prevent damage to SL mirrors and deeper lenses, the SL2's mount and the flange of these lenses was changed slightly to prevent the lenses from being used on a Leicaflex (original) or SL. SL-spec lenses can still be used on SL2 and R bodies, but lenses that require more mirror clearance can't be used on Leicaflex or SL.
