Realistically Gilbert - Why would anyone, to quote you, "give a shit."
We all know that there are thousands of people out there who own Leicas.
Some of them probably go to campaign rallies. A handful of them still
use them professionally. ;-)

the LUG

Well, I don't remember exactly what pissed me off, but a few weeks ago
I unsubscribed from the LUG. My in-box got nice and quiet. I hadn't
realized that I get so much spam, because it always seemed like such a
small proportion of the total volume of incoming mail. So I set up some
really good filters. I took pictures, I made prints. I even found time
to read the New York Times.

And that's what's brought me back. I've been fighting with myself since
Sunday, but in surrender, I have to admit that I'm a LUG junkie. In the
Sunday Magazine there is an article on the Howard Dean campaign (no
political responses PLEASE!), and there's an AP photo on page 59 of
Dean talking to the usual bunch of college kids. I check out the chicks
in the front row. Ho-hum... but behind them there's this middle-aged
balding guy with a camera up to his nose. Hey that's a Leica M, ain't
it!. Uh oh, what's that little reflection down in front of his gut,
jeez, its another one, definitely an M6 TTL or an M7, got the double
silver lines above and below the finder window. And the red dot.
Geezuz, that could be ME! 2 bodies, short strap, long strap, bald, old
fart. And then I realize that no one else could give a shit. The AP guy
that got the byline probably didn't even notice -- he's got to be
shooting digital anyway.

To view the Times on-line you have to register, but they won't spam
you. Scroll down:

So, with that, I'm back, and I'll try to behave.
