On M lenses you do not ever notice flare in the frame though flare in 
the viewfinder is another matter entirely. It makes it much easier to 
carry multiple bodies and lenses. A 24/2.8A or a 35/1.4A sans shade is 
significantly more compact than with the shades in place. A 35/1.4A 
without its hood is as pocketable as a 35/2.
