I believe the word camera means "room" and there was a hole in the wall
in an outhouse from an arrow and when the person in there took it out he
saw the projected trees upside down on the opposite wall of the
outhouse... covered with graffiti, sacred and profane.
So he traced the upside down trees but the graffiti sure screwed things up.

Which were Methodist.

So he had to go out and get large piece of paper or cloth or animal skin
and do the tracing on that so he'd not have any Graffiti or upside down
trees on the final result.
But right side up graffiti-free trees.
I'm not sure - the hole thing is very obscure.
I think the guys name was Vern Meer and was from New York.
So he rode around on his horse shooting holes on the walls of all these
peoples rooms without asking first with his bow and arrow and the kids
would draw all over the walls which made them not at all pleased.

So they called him a "Graffiti Paparazzi Obscura."

A few decdade later someone figured out a photosensive emultion to coat
on the paper.
Or wall.

A few centuries after that they came out with FIXER.
A big boom because before that every time the lights came on the whole
picture turned solarized and mainly black. No one could relate.
So with this "FIXER" they called the thing "photography" and thought
there should be a e-mail list for people who did this with Leica's and
were otherwise filled with hot air.
