I just started playing with the Olympus 5060 - the new 5mgp prosumer p&s...and can report that it has a "real" b&w mode...not a forced dump of color info, but rgb b&w 12.? Mgp files in slightly compressed jpg mode...and when I run them through the FredMirand BW action, they don't change...which is to say that the equivalent of his basic bw action has been put into firm ware.... The camera has less shutter lag than it's predecessor...in fact, if you pre-focus, which is really the only way to go with the p&ses, it has virtually no shutter lag...if you don't, there is definite lag.... But it is quite neat to see and shoot in bw digital....Now, if they can only do that in the E-1 - -----Original Message----- From: owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us [mailto:owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us] On Behalf Of grduprey@rockwellcollins.com Sent: Monday, November 03, 2003 8:45 AM To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: RE: [Leica] My Leica M digital solution Yes, but with the Cross Pen you get a lifetime warranty for repair or replacement. I have sent in two of mine for repair and Cross sent me a new pen free, even after 25 years. Can't beat that. Both of mine were the Gold Filled, not the Gold Plated so they were a bit more than 10 microns thick. I actually use the Silver (Not Chrome) set more than the Gold though. Gene "B. D. The mounts were made of brass and/ or aluminium, with a titanium coating for cosmetic purposes. Jerry "B. D.
