Initially I thought I had nothing to add to this remarkably accurate statement but this morning I realized that at least some eye diseases can be lifestyle-induced. A few years ago I had an idiopathic central serous retinopathy (I hope I've spelled that correctly) which is a blister of unknown cause under the retina. Symptoms apparent to the patient include redness in the field of vision and the appearance of black spots within the red field. My opthamologist told me it's seem most often in males in their mid-40s who are under a lot of stress. Stress reduction in various forms helped eliminate the problem. Stress can be caused by many things, not only external circumstances, including behavioral and dietary sources. The dietary sources, no surprise, include simple sugars and trans-fatty acids.
