I have an MR and VC and have used both on my M2.  Don't get an MC, the solenoids do not last.  The MR is more convenient due to its attachment to the shutter speed dial.  Downside is but battery can be hard to get, some MR's have been converted to current battery output.  Look into this issue first.  Also once on the camera, the MR isn't convenient to remove.

The VC doesn't couple to the speed shutter dial so one must be careful.  The VC also takes readily available batteries and removed from the shoe easily.

I would recommend an MR4 sold by a reputable dealer or someone you trust.

What do you use and why?

I do have a handheld meter but I want on that will mount on the camera 
for when I am just walking around.
