The popular "eau de vie" or "aqcua vite"  in Italy is called grappa and is
distilled from the crushed grapes after the most has been extracted. It is
similar to schnapps. The alcohol content is in the vicinity of 90 proof. The
quality (and price) varies greatly according to grape and method used to
distill it. It is great to spike coffee (caffè corretto alla grappa) and it
beats any concoction Starbuck can come up with. But then, I like coffee
spiked with Baileys too.
