There are some interesting parallels between this pre-announcement and Leica's pre-announcement of the digital R back - not that they are related, but what I see is a form of panic in the companies that are behind the leading edge in the fast-developing digital capture arena. I think the motives behind Leica's pre-announcement and this Kodak pre-announcement are quite similar.
