The late 90 Elmarit was quite compact, and someone intersted in a compact camera probably wouldn't be intersted in an SLR. As a macro lens? There was a 100mm f/4 macro, which was replaced with the 100 APO. The macro focussing helix is what makes these lenses big. I don't understand your thinking, Mark.
