The only person I ever remember actually being unpleasant towards me was Gene Smith. However, I did once witness an epic argument between Gordon Parks...a wonderful man...and Gene Smith from which Smith slunk away in ignominy. I no longer recall what that argument was about, but it was certainly about something more important than Nikon versus Leica. From that dramatic moment I remember two anecdotes. 1. He said that someone once gave him a 4x5 camera. He said he found it an excellent place to hide a small bottle of scotch. 2. He also said that he noticed the strong influence of classical music when he printed.
