Yes, it's heavy and it really throws off the nice balance of my m7. I got one of Tom A's rapid grips and the balance was restored. I got the 54 instead of the 20 because of the bounce capability and because of the eyelight panel. If you have to use flash, it's a good one. Haven't used the hi speed capability or the rear curtain option yet. It's also not as automatic as the Canon flashes that I used to use (you have to set the asa, f stop and focal length manually on the flash unit), but you get used to it. No complaints.
