[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]ernie, my guess is your eyes are probably just fine. i think the CV 'pancake' is a neat little lens, but generally under-appreciated and now discontinued. same optics as the CV 35mm 'classic,' but a favorite of mine for street work because of its short focus throw. got one when it first came out, had it appropriated by my daughter who used it as her main lens for a year of intensive immersion in china, and it is now serving another lengthy tour of duty as my son's sole lens in africa. it's surprisingly sharp and handles well when mounted on an M body or hexar rf, and it's pretty unremarkable looking (a plus in my view). for most of my shooting it's easy to live with f2.5 when the max aperture performance is of a high enough standard. admittedly we mostly shoot b&w with it so cannot comment knowledgably on its color rendition, but in b&w it can deliver fine detail and rich continuous tonality. when it was recently discontinued i picked up another one for myself because it's modestly priced and won't be seen again (plus my son will be in africe for a while). rgds peter choy sf ca - -------------- Date: Tue, 26 Aug 2003 18:05:22 -0400 From: Ernest Nitka Subject: [Leica] CV 35/2.5 pancake lens Message-ID: <635E6526-D811-11D7-8175-003065C992F8@twcny.rr.com> References: I just got this lens and find that wide open ( admittedly f/2.5) it's very sharp.
