They can obviously convert the file, but that won't work as well as if you decide ahead of time what color space to send it at. It gives you a better chance of getting predictable color. Believe me. I work all the time with color correction and printing at a very high level. And it's no easy, no matter how "calibrated" a system gets. Leaving things to chance does not help.
