During WW2 Leitz, New York bought lenses from Wollensak so your 50mm f4.5 
might be a rebranded Wollensak enlarging lens. Not to worry, they made fine 
lenses. I have a WW2 era Wollensak 90mm f4.5 LTM lens for my Leica IIIc nd it is 
every bit as good as the Elmar.

Besides, the 1940s look has a certain retro appeal.
