Ergonomically speaking, the little dial results in less shutter speed fiddling. I figured Leica is doing me a favor, besides, changing shutter speeds a lot seems to give more varying results. The speeds aren't predictable and they vary more then people might think for the price. So far (knock on wood) the MP has given me the most consistent results. When shutter speed is the only variable Zone V negative densities can be off by as much as 1/2 a stop between some speeds. While these variables are consistent and predictable I find my negs develop more consistently if I don't fiddle with the shutter speed. Although this may not be the case with an electronic shutter. The small shutter speed dial was not a problem back in the old days when the M didn't have a meter, but now I find it a pain is the arse to fiddle with the tiny thing while framing a shot. I can live with the rewind stalk. On my M2 I added a $40 Wasserman rewind crank; problem solved and I'm not going to break out in a rash, because it isn't made by Leica. That's $160 bucks worth of Tri-X in savings. So, if I ever do end up buying an MP I'm either I'm going to have learn to live with it, design my own fix (graft an MR meter on it?) or if I really insist on black paint get an LHSA M6TTL and have Sherry upgrade the finder to the flare fix. feli - ------------------------------------------------------------------ Richard III was framed. * feli2@earthlink.net - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html ===================================================================== Please note that this e-mail and any files transmitted with it may be privileged, confidential, and protected from disclosure under applicable law.
