[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]Having R8's only, the only feature that really attracts me to the R9 is the fact that in Program mode it will use slow shutter speeds with TTL flash in dark areas (the R8, if it can't get proper exposure wide open at 1/250 it will set f5/6 at 1/250). I have NO idea why they did this. Of course, if I had the capability of the R9 this way, I'm sure I'd still shoot in Manual indoors with TTL flash, but it would be nice for my wife to get better auto exposures when she uses it! The other 'improvements' don't make any difference to me. I made the long trip to Seattle yesterday and visited Glazers. They had an R9 sitting there so I just had to handle it. I was curious if there was a big difference between my R8 and the R9. Just enough to make me want one. The weight difference is striking. The ability to read your frame # on the top of the camera even when it is off solves the only real irksome thing for me about the R8. Now, if I could scrape together $2100..... I was told they are selling quite well, as well as the R8, especially since Leica announced the future digital back. For me that is good news.
