Twenty years ago they were saying digital was the future. Check out the annual report, they have been buying companies for generations. The problem is that Kodak as an institution just does not make good decisions. Film is the cash cow so let's let all the really good chemists and coating engineers go. (Read between the lines in the reports of the chemists who created Xtol who are now RIF. Coating engineers trying to sell their services to the competitors after being early retired.) A lot of what Kodak used to do best was eliminated as they cut the experienced employees with decades of experience in the arcane of Kodak's bread and butter. Assuming in charge of product line....; NO. if anything I would like the CEO job. As the first order of business, I would buy couple of companies to help me strengthen the digital product line up (this is of course after the old ceo was fired for the lack of vision and bad sales, so digital is going strong and kodak needs to catch up). Consolidation of the old business and putting it in the harvest mode while expanding full speed with the digital world PS When there is shift in business model, you got to change/train employees but unfortunate most of the time you cut the old and hire new ones - --------------------------------------------------- regards, mehrdad - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
