Once exposed to air the slightest current carries the paint away. Seriously it does not seem as though the surface is properly prepped the paint comes off in large chips anytime it makes contact with other items in your bag (Leica lenses and Nikon and Canon do not so this)...my green R2 body suffers the same malady. But like I also said, WHO CARES. The price/performance ratio is so much in the favor of CV stuff particularly in wide or fast (seldom used) optics... My CV stuff, my Leica M stuff my Hasselblad stuff and my Nikon SLR stuff (F F2 FM FM2 series/vintage) all gets tossed in Domkes and carted around the globe. ONLY the CV stuff sheds paint with abandon. Mark > > This issue of paint finish is interesting. Does the paint chip off or just wear from contact with your hands? Perhaps it's the different design, of perhaps the 15 and 21mm barrels aren't brass. The (silk screened?) Voigtlander logo on the lens caps seems to disappear from all the lenses very easily too :-) Steve - -----Original Message----- From: owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us [mailto:owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us] On Behalf Of mak@teleport.com Sent: 22 July 2003 02:00 To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: Re: [Leica] Voightlander lenses ...CV products seem to automatically repell the paint from the barrel but if yu buy a lens to use...who cares Mark - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html > - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
