I get excellent results with my usual films (FP4/Tri-X/Neopan 1600) although I've found some films don't like this dilution (in particular Tmax 100) but for those 1:1 or 1:2 is usually ok. The other advantage of using Xtol at 1:3 is that it's very, very cheap :-) Steve - -----Original Message----- From: owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us [mailto:owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us] On Behalf Of Don Dory Sent: 08 July 2003 01:40 To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: RE: [Leica] OT: Fastest bw/developer combo If you don't mind a relatively flat negative may I recommend C-41 developer at about 38C plus or minus 1/10. About 90 seconds should do it. ;) On a serious note, if speed is what you want then I would use D-76 1:1 at about 80F. You should get a pretty fair negative and times should be in the three-four minute range. What I use is Xtol 1:3. Most films go between 13 and 18 minutes which is nothing compared to trying to reshoot something. You will have to see 16X20's using Neopan 1600 at 1600 in Xtol. Really tight grain and wonderful gradation. Don dorysrus@mindspring.com - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
