I am completely certain that TIFF and JPEG files will be readable and usable 100 years from now. They are data representations, not physical structures, and they are utterly documented and redundantly implemented. I am fairly certain that it will still be possible to buy floppy disks and floppy drives for the next 20 years, and that it will be possible to buy devices that can read floppy disks (but not write them) for the next 50 years. But JPEG files on ISO9660-format CD-R disks will live longer than I do. Probably longer than my children do. - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
