Looks as if the following is true- 1- It will be a Back for the R8/R9 (Pick up a mint R8 now for about $1000.00 USA if you want a whole camera!) 2- But you'll have a year or so before it hits the shelf - so you can save and take your time. 3 - it will be a 10 to 11 mega pixel, 1.3x magnification factor (like Canon's 1D) and the company IMACON (!) - the folks that make those great high end scanners - will assist in manufacture of the sensor, software etc. That's pretty good news! 4- Possibly a new 16mm or 17mm lens will be announced in 2004 fall designed for it. 5- Leica "will take great effort" to make sure that the quality of Leica glass is noticed with this new sensor (whatever that is) which includes not only a new angle on what of and how the sensor will be made, but the firmware itself. 6- BEST --- it should be around --- $4000.00 USD For the rest, we all have to wait for the chat. If another Mayonnaise Jar appears, I'll let you know (unless, there's just mayonnaise in it!) :-) Ed - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
