The Velvia is just as saturated as before. Improvements would include less contrast, no magenta undertones, much finer grain, and the familiar blown out greens that are just believable. The new emulsions doesn't seem as cutting edge sharp in the Rodinal tradition. The really fine details are there, the razor edged borders are not. The Astia seems to be the real improvement. Really fine grain, I mean no grain at all. Very smooth color with no off color shading. The Astia has a very good edge sharpness. I can't tell you about the Kodak films. It has been a long, long time since yellow boxes were in my bag. Don dorysrus@mindspring.com - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
