The time for that was about 50 years ago. The buck is the important issue, at least to the manufacturers. I have heard that B+H is also treated preferentially... but then again, if you receive your inventory BY THE PALLET, maybe you should get some preferential treatment....... The bottom line is that the little guys will go away........ My local store has told me the margin on new stuff is terrible, forced upon them by the big guys seemingly low margins... They must match the price to the consumer, but their cost is higher..... so they make less $$$. They try to make 50% or higher margin on used stuff. But Ebay has leveled the playing field in that arena as well. In LA, there used to be lots of little camera stores. Almost without exception, they are all gone. There are a few large stores ( Like Samys, Bel Air, and Calumet) but the little store that used to carry lots of new stuff, at higher prices, is now a figment of the imagination.
