My point is that one can chose to make what one knows best ones best subject - take your 'best' photos of the kids, the spouse, the parents. They, of all subject, should ignore you and your camera. (I realize there is one real impediment in the way of doing this - and that is the fact that it can be quite difficult to really SEE the subjects that always surround you.) B. 'Snaps' of the kids and family are just unthinking grab shots, or more often posed (here is a photo of the kids in front of the lion pen at the National Zoo) and represent something of a record, nothing more. Only the photographer, those in it and relatives want to see it However, I think you have a point - SOMETIMES, if you are lucky, the Zen thing we all spoke of before - and a gorgeous photograph just 'happens' while you are 'snapping' - then you can show it to everyone, because then you can call it 'art' ;-) Ed > <I MUST be missing something here...but why do photos of "the kids," > and the other most important people and things in ones life, have to > be relegated to "snap shots?" > > Just wondering. :-) > > B.
