My print times with XP2 are more or less in line with regular B&W films. And if anything, it seems to me to run a bit flat. With my color head, I have to dial in the equivalent of 3 to 3.5 for a normal print of a normal contrast scene. Was your observation of too much contrast a reaction to a traditional B&W print or a color mini-lab print? Unlike the other films, I don't think XP2 is really designed to print on color paper. And yes, it has been a while since I tried TCN, but my recollection is that the print times were MUCH longer due to the base density.
