I've got tabs on my 'normal' lenses, a very early 50/3.5 Elmar nickel plate and a Nikkor 50/1.4. I've upgraded to the Elmar from a Russian Industar-22 (an Elmar clone). The main difference, besides the Elmar being uncoated and disregarding the quality, is that the Elmar's focus covers practically 360 degrees while the Industar-22 does it in 180 degrees. I really like the 360 degrees focus turn. It makes it easier to set an appoximate focus quickly. Also the infinity stop on my Elmar is, looking at the front of the camera, @ about 11 o'clock, while the Russian (and I would guess later Elmars), is @ 7 o'clock. The Elmar is a match for the Leica D which I have. The rangefinder needs to be set right, but it just feels better than the Zorki. Real thing, as the Zorki is a copy of the D. Now, I'm still learning how to use these types of cameras more effectively with the aim of making better images. For the last several years I've not shot a lot of film, a few rolls a month. With the addition of the Rapid Winder and the 12 Leitz cassettes, I hope to burn more film and also start to make contact prints of the roll, which I'm not doing now. I've aquired the Leitz ABLON (the metal device used to cut the leader of the film to make loading the screwmount cameras more easy. It first I bid on a copy of the ABLON. Then, I realized that I needed the real thing, because the copy did not have the V shape at one end, used to cut the film to attach to the cassette spool. So I backed out of the deal and found a real ABLON, for more money however. I still need to find a Leitz film spooler, the kind you mount on the table. I won one, but the guy couldn't find it. Guess I've gone retro! No Leica Ms here. Cheers, Rich Lahrson Berkeley, California tripspud@transbay.net Don Dory wrote: > Well, it has been most of a day and I haven't seen any answers.
