Or, alternatively, if you feel you must own a Leica M but still want to save money, buy a used M6 or M6TTL - - either of which can be had in excellent condition for less than $1150, and consider a Cosina/Voigtlander lens for it. These lenses are not built as well as their Leica counterparts - but then they cost new about 25% what a Leica lens of the same focal length costs - but they do compare optically to the last, pre-ASPH generation of Leica M lenses.
