In general it is a very sharp lens without the higher contrast of the latest designs. What does that mean? You can see really fine detail in images taken with the 60, but it doesn't have the really sharp divisions that you might see in the veins of a leaf as you would with the 100. http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=672128 This link is the 105 APO EL Nikkor that is truly a diffraction limited lens.
