I can see why someone with an early Leica camera might want a rewinder
accessory. 
Could be a very useful thing.
But in designed a new camera it escapes me why anyone would specify a rewind
knob
that takes an optional accessory. Why? Nostalgia for the early models?

In any event, I haven't seen what it looks like yet so my reaction is
premature.
Maybe when I see a MP and its accessories it will be strike me as a clever
design.
