Argh, Austin! The electric fuel pump used in the MG's and Sunbeam Tigers
was NOT a Lucas product but was made by S.U. (and a Hearty Congratulations
to anyone who KNOWS what S.U. stands for!). The US Army's original M88
recovery vehcile had a version of this fuel pump, on steroids, mind you,
which gave the US Army the same problems which it gave to generations of US
college kids. But the Army's maintenance types mourned when the M88A2 came
out in diesel with the AVDS fuel pump -- the S.U. unit was just so bloody
predictable and so easy to repair ... )

Nonetheless, most British sportscar owners have converted over to one or
other of the many cheap and tough replacement pumps.
