Simon,
No, if you just drop it in then the old lubricant remains and with it the
same gumming at low temperatures. To truly make it work, you will have to
pull the rewind assemble, clean out all the old lubricant, then reapply the
small amount needed.
Again, John Collier put the directions in the archives when another LUGNUT
dropped their camera on the rewind.
