I did hear that some of the last M6 TTLs had brass tops as parts were
'overlapping' with the M7 (ie they'd run out of zinc ones). Can anyone
confirm this?

Didn't we have a discussion recently about brass tops for M6's? Unless I'm
going senile (a distinct possibility), I believe we did. Yes, I think it was
here. I didn't dream this.

At the risk of starting a whole new thread of nonsense and twaddle, I am
going to say that the only M6's that had solid brass tops (rather than zinc
alloy) were the LHSA's. This is on authority from The Dude In Charge Of
Repair At Leica USA. So in case anyone has an issue with zinc, brass, or
even pot-metal (Hey Jerry!), this is The Official Word. I think someone was
wondering if his M6 had a brass hat.
