It looks like all of the Kodal "prosumer" scanners have been discontinued. Only their high end scanners for labs are still available. Most of the review rate it very highly, where it falls down compared to the Nikon is a slightly less effective flaw removing program and its ability to scan very dense slides is somewhat inferior. It is also about half the price. Also, look into the Kodak 3600, especially if you have a lot of Kodachromes to scan. Dante has had several long posts regarding this scanner. I have one and with the new firmware it is a very nice machine indeed. No flaw removal software though.
