I think Chatterton told me way back that ever since the lenses were made
with the protruding red dots the "quality" went down on the mechanics:
Aluminum instead of brass parts and so on. The feel of the older lenses
can not be denied. And there's nothing wrong with the glass either. They
just are not as razor sharp and so on as the modern Asph's and apo's and
other computer designed optics with the benefits of modern glasses.

I was thinking this lens looked like a dual-range.
